Bryan County Family Connection Celebrates 25 Years of Community Impact
For 25 years, Bryan County Family Connection has been bringing people together to make life better for children and families across Bryan County.
In 2026, Bryan County Family Connection (BCFC) is celebrating a milestone that represents far more than the passage of time. It represents 25 years of partnerships, service, growth, and a community coming together to care for its neighbors.
Since its beginning, BCFC has served as a connector — bringing schools, local government, nonprofit organizations, businesses, faith communities, agencies, volunteers, and residents to the same table to identify needs and find ways to address them together.
That spirit of collaboration has remained at the heart of BCFC for a quarter of a century.
Growing to Meet the Needs of Bryan County
Bryan County has changed tremendously over the past 25 years, and the work of Family Connection has grown along with it.
Today, BCFC helps connect families with resources and coordinates programs addressing food insecurity, emergency needs, youth development, family stability, recreation assistance, resilience, and other challenges facing local children and families.
The Plentiful Pantry Community Food Bank, which began in 2014, is one example of that growth. During its first year, the pantry served approximately 500 individuals. In 2025 alone, it served 2,080 families and 5,743 individuals, distributing more than 257,000 pounds of food.
Since 2019, BCFC food programs have provided assistance to more than 27,000 individuals.
BCFC also coordinates the Bryan County Children’s Fund Christmas Angel Program, bringing the community together each Christmas to ensure local children have gifts and necessities for the holidays. In 2025, the program served 563 children, raised more than $61,000, and was supported by more than 125 volunteers.
During the summer months, BCFC works with Bryan County and community partners to help ensure children continue to have access to nutritious meals when school is not in session. In the summer of 2026 alone, the Bryan County Summer Food Service Program provided more than 60,000 meals to children throughout the county.
But the impact of Family Connection cannot be measured by numbers alone.
Behind Every Number Is a Family
A box of food may mean a parent has enough groceries to make it through the end of the month.
Recreation assistance may mean a child gets to play on a team for the first time.
A Christmas Angel sponsor may provide not only gifts, but relief for a parent struggling to make Christmas happen.
Emergency assistance may help a family remain safely housed during a crisis.
A referral to the right community resource may be the first step toward stability.
And sometimes, simply having someone listen, help navigate available resources, and say, “Let’s figure this out together,” can make all the difference.
Those individual moments are at the heart of BCFC’s work.
25 Years of Partnership
None of this work happens through one organization alone.
For 25 years, Bryan County Family Connection has relied on the strength of collaboration. Community partners have donated food, funding, supplies, expertise, meeting space, volunteer hours, and countless other resources. They have served on committees, attended Collaborative meetings, identified emerging needs, developed new programs, and stepped forward when families needed help.
Some partnerships have lasted for decades. Others are just beginning.
Together, they have created a network of support that reaches across North and South Bryan County.
As BCFC celebrates its 25th anniversary, the organization is also celebrating every partner, volunteer, donor, community leader, agency, organization, and resident who has been part of the journey.
Looking Toward the Next 25 Years
The needs facing families will continue to change, just as Bryan County will continue to grow and change.
What will not change is the importance of working together.
As Bryan County Family Connection looks toward its next chapter, BCFC remains committed to listening to the community, strengthening partnerships, connecting families with resources, and finding collaborative solutions to the challenges facing children and families.
Twenty-five years have shown what is possible when a community comes together with a shared purpose.
And the work continues.
